Shalika Siriwardhana

Lecturer in Business | Manager-Business & Management Programmes

Shalika is an accomplished business professional and seasoned academic with extensive local and international experience across diverse corporate landscapes and academic spheres. Combining a rare blend of scientific and business acumen, he holds a degree in chemistry and a Master’s in chemical and process engineering, laying a strong foundation for a distinguished career.

He began his corporate journey at the prestigious Hayleys Group, serving as a senior executive in R&D, where he spearheaded the growth of key product portfolios in the global PPE manufacturing sector. Shalika’s dynamic career trajectory then elevated him to the international banking arena, joining HSBC Group in the United Kingdom. Specializing initially in industrial assessments for commercial banking clients, he swiftly rose to manage high-net-worth investment portfolios, driving several high-impact initiatives such as the creation of a smart internal training platform, a next-generation CRM system, and operational efficiency projects that earned him five distinguished innovation awards. During this tenure, he also pursued a Stage 1 MBA in Finance from the world-renowned Imperial College London.
After eight successful years in banking, Shalika transitioned back into industry leadership, joining Astrid International to head its innovation division under the BOI Sri Lanka framework. As General Manager of Innovations, he established a state-of-the-art R&D center and introduced multiple groundbreaking PPE products to the global marketplace. Expanding his impact further, he was entrusted with leading advanced innovation and commercialization projects at the University of Moratuwa under the World Bank’s AHEAD initiative, for which he was honored with a special award.

As an academic, Shalika boasts over seven years of teaching excellence at the postgraduate level, delivering critical modules such as Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Project Management, Innovation, and Commercialization across three MBA programmes at the University of Moratuwa. He has further contributed his expertise to leading institutions like the Royal Institute Colombo, Ceylon Strategic Research Institute, and Horizon Campus, teaching strategic management, tourism management, international economics, and related disciplines aligned with top-tier international curricula.

In addition to lecturing, Shalika has mentored numerous MBA and undergraduate research projects and has excelled as a strategic business consultant, having architected several international business ventures under the UK’s FDI investor scheme.
He has also made notable appearances on prestigious platforms, serving as the Special Industry Representative at the University of Moratuwa Research Week 2024, co-chairing the Entrepreneurship and HRM track at the 6th International Conference on Business Research 2023, and delivering keynote sessions on innovation and commercialization in several reputed forums. His research contributions and innovations have been featured in publications and showcased on national television programmes such as Sirasa TV’s “Jathika Mehewara” and Swarnawahini’s “Ayubowan Sri Lanka.”

Currently at the Australasian Academy, Shalika’s mission is to revolutionize programme delivery in the fields of business and management, nurturing globally competitive, industry-ready professionals. Keshi Kahandawala

Visiting Lecturer

Keshi Kahandawala is an emerging academic specializing in Agricultural Economics and Business Management at the University of Peradeniya. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Agricultural Technology and Management with a focus on Applied Economics and Business Management and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Keshi’s academic journey is complemented by valuable industry exposure in market analysis, customer relations, and operational management. She has conducted in-depth market studies for leading brands, providing strategic insights into consumer behavior, competitive landscapes, and business growth opportunities. Her industry experience strengthens her ability to bridge academic concepts with real-world business practices.

Dedicated to advancing academic research, Keshi has explored entrepreneurial decision-making approaches among business operators and presented her findings at recognized academic symposiums. Her work reflects a strong commitment to fostering innovation and critical thinking within the business and management fields.

In her teaching, Keshi focuses on delivering a practical, skill-oriented learning experience that emphasizes strategic management, marketing analysis, entrepreneurship, and applied business economics. Rushalini Munusamy

Visiting Lecturer

Rushalini Munusamy is a vibrant and committed academic specializing in Human Resource Management and Business Management. She holds a First-Class Honors degree in Human Resource Management from Horizon Campus and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, further strengthening her academic and professional expertise.

Rushalini brings a unique energy and passion to teaching, driven by her dedication to creating an engaging, collaborative, and dynamic learning environment. She has lectured in key areas of management and human resources, supervised undergraduate business research projects, and contributed significantly to curriculum development and academic administration. Her active involvement in moderating assessments, guiding student career development, and promoting academic excellence highlights her commitment to shaping future business leaders.

Her research work has been published at prestigious forums, including the CIPM International Symposium and Kotelawala Defense University’s International Research Conference, showcasing her scholarly dedication to advancing workplace studies, particularly in mindfulness and techno-stress management.

Nimesha Rajakaruna

Program Manager/ Lecturer Faculty of Computing

Nimesha Rajakaruna is an experienced academic and education professional with over 11 years in the higher education sector. She has worked with several respected universities and qualification-awarding bodies, including London Metropolitan University (UK), the University of the West of England (Bristol), Pearson, the Scottish Qualification Authority, Deakin University (Australia), Asia e University (Malaysia), and Wrexham Glyndwr University (UK), primarily through affiliated campuses in Sri Lanka. Most recently, she headed the computer science and cybersecurity programs at Edith Cowan University (ECU)—Sri Lanka Campus. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colombo School of Computing and a Master’s degree from Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK).

Research Interests

Nimesha Rajakaruna’s research interests include secure digital learning platforms, educational management systems, gamified learning environments, and technology-driven solutions, particularly in information systems. Her special focus is to support differently abled students. She is actively exploring the intersection of AI, data analytics, and education systems to enhance learning outcomes and accessibility.

Lahiru Karunanayaka

Lahiru Karunanayaka is an experienced IT Lecturer and cybersecurity specialist with over a decade of professional expertise in system administration, networking, and IT education. He holds a Master of Science in Network Information Security from Kingston University, UK, awarded with Merit, alongside a strong portfolio of professional certifications, including being a Microsoft® Certified Trainer (MCT), Microsoft® Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS). His technical foundation is further reinforced by specialized training in Windows Server management, Linux system administration, and Microsoft Internet Security solutions.

Throughout his career, Lahiru has demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing IT education and supporting enterprise-level network operations. His teaching portfolio includes delivering advanced courses on configuring and troubleshooting Windows Server environments (2008, 2012, 2016, and 2019), Red Hat Linux administration, Cisco routing, network security, and systems support. His instructional work spans esteemed institutions such as ESOFT Metro Campus and IDM Corporate Training Division, where he not only trained students but also mentored new assistant lecturers through dedicated “How to be a Lecturer” workshops.

Lahiru’s professional expertise is complemented by hands-on experience in implementing and maintaining complex IT infrastructures. He has conducted specialized training programs for government IT administrators under the Lanka Government Network (LGN) initiative, equipping public sector employees with essential computer system administration skills. His involvement in delivering CompTIA A+ and N+ certification training further highlights his versatile technical and teaching capabilities.

Academically, Lahiru's foundation was built through the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer and Network Technology awarded by Edexcel UK, where he achieved excellent grades in areas such as Fundamentals of ICT, PC and Network Technology, Web Development, and Network Security. Tharindu Thennakoon

Tharindu Thennakoon is a passionate IT professional with extensive experience across software engineering and lecturing. With a strong academic background, including an MSc in Information Technology and a Master of Business Administration, Tharindu blends academic rigour with real-world expertise to inspire the next generation of tech leaders.

Starting his career in cybersecurity at Wiley Global Technology, Tharindu quickly transitioned into software engineering, honing his skills in Java Spring Boot, React, Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS. His professional journey spans contributions to cutting-edge platforms in publishing and restaurant operations, mastering the latest technologies in microservices architecture, cloud services, and full-stack development.

Alongside his industry work, Tharindu has embraced his passion for teaching, delivering visiting lectures at prestigious institutions. His teaching portfolio includes programming foundations in Python, object-orientated programming in C++, and advanced software engineering concepts. Known for his practical, hands-on approach, he strives to bridge the gap between theory and industry practices.

Yoshi Haran Ramachandran

Visiting Lecturer

Yoshi Haran Ramachandran  is a committed academic professional specializing in computing education, curriculum development, and student mentorship. With hands-on experience delivering Pearson BTEC HND Computing modules such as Risk Analysis and System Training, User Experience & Interface Design, and Emerging Technologies, he brings a dynamic and practical approach to teaching. His focus is on fostering critical thinking, promoting independent research skills, and preparing students for real-world industry demands.

Trained extensively by UK partner universities and Pearson in advanced teaching methodologies, Yoshi Haran Ramachandran ensures that his module delivery aligns with global academic standards. His lectures integrate real-world examples and emerging technologies to enhance student engagement and academic performance.

In addition to his academic expertise, Yoshi Haran Ramachandran has professional experience managing IT and marketing projects, providing him with a strong foundation in project planning, resource management, and stakeholder engagement — insights he consistently brings into the classroom to enrich the learning experience.

He holds a Master of Science in Project Management from the University of Bedfordshire, where his research focused on AI applications in predictive analytics for software project risk management. Samantha Indika

Samantha Indika is a seasoned IT Infrastructure professional and academic with over 22 years of experience. He has expertise in designing, implementing, and managing diverse IT solutions, including Microsoft technologies, virtualisation, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity. Samantha holds an MSc in Computing from Glyndwr University, UK, and a BSc (Hons) in Computing from Teesside University, UK.

As a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) since 2010, he has lectured on professional vendor certifications at renowned institutions like Tech Avantus Training (Singapore), EZY Avantus (Singapore), Tech One Global (Sri Lanka), NetAssist International (Sri Lanka), IDM Computer Studies (Sri Lanka), ESoft Metro Campus (Sri Lanka), and Winsys Networks (Sri Lanka).

He has lectured at local and foreign universities like Ocean University (Sri Lanka). Metropolitan Campus KDU (Sri Lanka), Deakin University (Australia), Edith Cowan University (Australia), Glyndwr University (UK), Asia e University (Malaysia), Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK), and more.

Prof. Ruvan Abeysekara

With a proven track record in requirements analysis, workflow design, process modeling, quality assurance, and testing, Prof. Abeysekara is well-versed in managing complex IT projects and driving innovation. He brings a unique combination of technical proficiency and strategic vision, enabling him to develop effective, business-aligned solutions.

Known for his problem-solving capabilities, Prof. Abeysekara consistently bridges technical and business perspectives to deliver practical, results-oriented outcomes. Dr. Kaneeka Vidanage

Dr. Kaneeka Vidanage is an accomplished academic and researcher with over 13 years of experience in Software Engineering education. As a seasoned lecturer, he has consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching, mentoring, and curriculum development, with a strong focus on emerging technologies and practical applications.

His primary research interests lie in the domains of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, where he has made significant scholarly contributions. Dr. Vidanage has authored over 40 peer-reviewed research publications, which have been featured in reputed journals and international conferences. His work addresses both theoretical advancements and real-world challenges, underscoring his commitment to impactful and innovative research.

Mr. Muditha Priyashan

Visiting Lecturer

Muditha Priyashan is a dedicated and technically proficient IT professional with a strong academic and practical background in computer security, cloud computing, and data analytics. With a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Security from Plymouth University (NSBM) and currently pursuing an MSc in Big Data Analytics at Robert Gordon University, Muditha combines theoretical expertise with hands-on experience across a range of IT domains including system administration, network support, and cloud infrastructure.

 Over the past several years, Muditha has progressively developed his career, beginning with a network and application support internship at Adventa Holdings Pvt Ltd. There, he was exposed to the operational challenges of enterprise IT environments, gaining firsthand experience in troubleshooting and supporting end-user systems. He then advanced to a System Administrator role at Sri Lanka Foundation, where he managed critical infrastructure components such as Zoho Mail services, VMware ESXi-based VPS, Windows Server Domain Controllers, and PFSense firewalls. His role involved direct engagement with software project teams, ensuring that systems ran efficiently and client expectations were met with responsive technical support.

 Currently working as an Executive at the Informatics Institute of Technology, Muditha supports the development of PHP applications and provides data analysis for report generation. His work contributes directly to enhancing system performance and improving the user experience for staff and students. Alongside his professional roles, he has earned Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-900, AZ-104, AZ-500), reinforcing his commitment to expanding his capabilities in cloud technologies and cybersecurity.

 Muditha’s technical competencies span a wide spectrum—from networking and operating systems (Windows/Linux) to big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, and Grafana. He also possesses strong scripting and automation skills, making him well-suited for roles that require optimization and scaling of IT operations. His strengths extend beyond the technical realm: Muditha is known for his excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills. A self-motivated learner, he is passionate about staying current with emerging technologies and trends in IT infrastructure and analytics.


Mr. Shehan Dhanushka Wijesundara

Head of Culinary

Shehan is a visionary culinary leader with over a decade of experience in the hospitality and culinary industries. As the Head of Culinary at Australasian Academy, he blends real-world expertise with academic excellence, inspiring and shaping the next generation of chefs. His passion for innovation and commitment to excellence make him a driving force in the future of culinary arts.

 Shehan has started his academic journey at prestigious IMI International Management Institute, Switzerland and he holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in International Culinary Arts, validated by Oxford Brookes University, UK. This qualification has provided him with a profound knowledge of global culinary techniques and hospitality management practices. Additionally, he has earned the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) from Australia, which certifies his ability to deliver high-quality vocational education and training.

 Throughout his career, he has gained extensive experience in professional kitchens and held leadership roles in culinary education. His vast expertise encompasses kitchen management, pastry and baking, and commercial cookery training. Shehan’s teaching philosophy centers on practical application, ensuring that students not only grasp theoretical knowledge but also develop the hands-on skills essential for success in the fast-paced culinary industry.

Deshitha Dananjaya

Assistant Lecturer in Culinary and Hospitality

Meet Deshitha Dananjaya, a passionate and dedicated culinary professional who loves sharing his knowledge with the next generation of hospitality enthusiasts. As an Assistant Lecturer in Culinary and Hospitality at Australasian Academy, Deshitha combines his hands-on industry experiencewith a genuine passion for teaching.

His journey in the culinary world has taken him from the bustling kitchens of Sri Lanka and Australia to the classroom, where he now inspires students to develop their skills and pursue their own dreams in hospitality. Over the years, Deshitha has worn many hats, from Chef de Partie to Commis Chef, gaining invaluable experience in kitchen management, menu development, and food presentation. Working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments has taught him the importance of creativity, precision, and efficiency — values he now instills in his students.

He is a hospitality professional whose commitment to continuous learning and professional growth reflects his passion for the ever-evolving hospitality industry. His academic journey is marked by impressive achievements, having earned an Advanced Diploma in Commercial Cookery and Hospitality Management from the prestigious William Angliss Institute @SLIIT. Prior to that, he completed a Diploma in Hospitality Management from the same institute. These qualifications have equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of both practical and theoretical aspects of hospitality, empowering him to deliver high-quality education and training to aspiring professionals.

Vladimir Alexis Josef Nugara

Culinary Lecturer

Vladimir Alexis Josef Nugara is a seasoned culinary expert with an impressive 31 years of experience in the hospitality and culinary industry. A graduate of the Claremont Hotel School with a Diploma in Hotel Catering and Management (1993 – 1996), Alex further honed his skills in Cake Decorating & Sugar Flower Making at the R. L. Clement Cake Decorating School (2007 – 2009).

Alex’s journey has taken him from working in prestigious restaurants and hotels both in Sri Lanka and abroad, showcasing his talents across the local and global industry space. His extensive expertise spans kitchen management, bakery, butchery, and menu planning, making him a versatile and accomplished professional.

As a Culinary Lecturer at Australasian Academy, Alex’s passion for teaching is reflected in his commitment to nurturing the next generation of chefs. Throughout his distinguished career, Kapila has served as a Pastry Chef at several prestigious hotels, including the iconic Mount Lavinia Hotel, the luxurious Radisson Sas Hotel in Kuwait, and the renowned Taj Samudra Hotel. His experience also extends to celebrated establishments like the Galle Face Hotel and Fab Food (PVT) Ltd., where he crafted exceptional pastries and desserts that delighted guests and garnered recognition.

Kapila’s dedication to his craft is evident from his numerous accolades, including Gold and Bronze Medals for Plated Desserts and Bakery Show Pieces at national and international culinary competitions. Nethmini earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Hons) from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and currently she is reading her Masters in Nursing Education.  She further enhanced her teaching capabilities by obtaining the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) from Chisholm Institute, Australia, and a Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. ?

Her career journey is marked by a dedication to both healthcare practice and academic excellence. She began her career as a Nursing Officer at Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital and University Hospital of Kotelawala Defense University, where she gained hands-on experience in patient care and nursing protocols. Following her clinical experience, Nethmini changed her career as a lecturer where she managed academic programs, delivered lectures, and coordinated modules for various undergraduate programs in two different well known Universities in Sri Lanka.
